Stack Overflow released the results of its annual developer survey this week, with responses from over 70,000 developers across 180 countries. The survey highlights attitudes, tools, and environments that are shaping software today.

Docker and Kubernetes placed first and second place this year as the most loved and wanted tools. Rust and Python shared the title for most wanted technology, with TypeScript coming in second.

For the seventh year in a row, Rust is the most loved language. C and C++ were low on that list. Over half of those surveyed responded they “dreaded” using each of the languages, indicating that plans by the Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF) and the Linux Foundation to eliminate C and C++ might be welcomed by the developer community.
