Sourcefire, Inc., the world leader in intrusion prevention, today announced that, with the consent of the US government, Sourcefire and Check Point Software Technologies have opted to withdraw their merger filing with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Sourcefire will continue to operate as the industry's largest private Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) vendor.
Since the announcement of the acquisition in October 2005, Sourcefire has continued to gain sales and technology momentum, exceeding all of its business goals for 2005 and positioning for strong growth and profitability in 2006. In 2005, Sourcefire reached profitability, grew revenues more than 70% versus the prior year, had a record fourth quarter, and enjoyed a tremendous rate of repeat customer business. Sourcefire will be cash-flow positive in Q1 2006 and expects to be both profitable and cash-flow positive for the 2006 business year.
