This site, in German, talks about an artificial intelligence project to detect intrusions. "Electronic intrusion detection is much trickier than human intrusion detection. Humans can search for the intruder by opening doors, looking into closets, etc. The intruder cannot turn into a company's General Manager or turn into a copy machine all of a sudden (spoofing or trojan horse).

Network or computer intrusion detection is much trickier. It requires the network to monitor the network intrusion, a computer to monitor computer intrusion. "Never send a human to do a machine's job". What we need is an artificial intelligence system linked or bound to communication protocols and file systems that detects intrusions. I have started such a project as well as other projects. Look for them at http://www.mindpassion.com/AI.html before the end of February 2001."
