A Hollywood, California man pleaded guilty this week to "war-spamming," a combination of war-driving and pushing spam to people using unprotected wireless networks.
Specifically, Nicholas Tombros pleaded guilty to one count under the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. United States Attorney Debra W. Yang said in a statement that this is the first conviction under the CAN-SPAM Act.
Tombros acknowledged war-driving in Venice Beach, California and pushing spam advertising pornographic Web sites to users of unprotected WLANs. The conviction grew out of a FBI investigation, according to Yang.
