You'll have to evaluate your own server security needs. Linux has many, many programs that help with server security. A trip through your local bookstore will turn up entire sections on Linux security. Also look for Linux security stories on NewsForge.com and www.linuxsecurity.com. . . .
You'll notice that I haven't said much about security. With small audiences in isolated locations you may not need much security at all. If you are doing a weekend retreat way out in the woods (using portable generators, maybe) with nobody else around for miles, you probably can get by with just knowing your audience members and watching what they are doing when your Web server is up and running.
