Security firms Intrusion and Check Point Software will this month launch a sub-L1300 Linux-based Internet security appliance. The small device is aimed at medium-sized firms and branch offices, and will have Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1 security software preinstalled. It will also be available as a managed service. Intrusion's general manager, Neil Venus, said, "We're increasingly seeing people farming out security, virtual private networks, firewalls and antivirus software. Most corporations can't be bothered to keep up on the latest security, and don't want to lose their jobs if they get hacked."
