"The number of newly opened FBI computer-hacking investigations has quadrupled since the first electronic commerce sites were attacked last week. Investigators theorize copycats may have emerged to attack additional, but less well-known Internet sites. Attacks have continued into this week, and no one knows if they have ended, FBI spokeswoman Debbie Weierman said Thursday. And some attacks have cropped up abroad, said one federal investigator, who requested anonymity."
