Transport Layer Security (TLS)
(I) TLS Version 1.0 is an Internet protocol [R2246] based-on and
very similar to SSL Version 3.0. (See: TLSP.)
(C) The TLS protocol is misnamed, because it operates well above
the transport layer (OSI layer 4).
